Beeswax candles

Our pure beeswax candles burn cleanly, without the soot residue or paraffin-derived compounds found in conventional candles. They are made from 100% natural beeswax, with no additives, giving off a light honey scent rather than a synthetic fragrance drawn from a fragrance lab.

Each beeswax candle we make starts as raw wax sourced from beekeeper friends across Provence, not from a factory. That wax is filtered by hand in our workshop before it is melted, poured or rolled into the candle you receive. Because it is completely natural, its colour shifts gently from one batch to the next, from pale gold in spring to a deeper amber in autumn, depending on the season and the flowers the bees foraged on that year. No two candles are ever perfectly identical, and that is exactly the point.

Why pure beeswax candles burn differently

They typically burn slower and longer than paraffin or soy candles of the same size. A single Ambroise pillar, for example, burns for around 36 hours, while our Origine hive candle can burn for close to 100 hours. According to Utah State University’s beekeeping extension, beeswax has one of the highest melting points of any natural wax, which contributes to that slower, cleaner burn.

First and foremost, our pure beeswax candles are healthy and natural, the fruit of a master candle maker’s know-how and his thousands of assistants: the bees. Every candle in this collection, from the honeycomb texture of Lucienne to the hand poured glass of Mireille and Faustine, is made entirely by hand in our Provence workshop, in small batches, without shortcuts.

If you have never lit a pure beeswax candle before, the difference is immediate: a warmer light, a softer scent of honey rather than perfume, and a flame that burns cleanly from the very first minute to the last.
